Parts Tracker Revision History
Version 2.1.19 (15th December 2005)
Added extra debug logging and minor changes to trouble call screens to be more resilient to installation issues
with Microsoft Office Web Components.
If you are using version 2.1.18, then you do not have to upgrade to 2.1.19 unless you find that the trouble call
screens are not working correctly.
Version 2.1.18 (13th December 2005)
Bug Fixes:
- Trouble call entries and graphs screens are now working correctly for Office 2000 and XP (broken in v2.1.17).
- The Backspace key now deletes a cell value as expected in the trouble call entries screen.
Version 2.1.17 (27th November 2005)
Bug Fixes:
- The item value field on the Current Stock Report is now internationalised (currency format).
Enhancements:
- The Trouble Call Graph screen now (optionally) shows the data value as a label against each point in the
graph. To use, click the Show Data Labels checkbox in the Trouble Call Graphs screen.
- Monthly budget fields on Budgets screen are now wider (enough for 7 digits).
- The trouble call graph now allows a range of week numbers to be specified (e.g. you can show calls for
week 26 to 53, etc).
Version 2.1.16 (16th April 2005)
Bug Fixes:
- The fix for non-dollar currencies in the previous version was not complete.
The order total on the order print out is now properly formatted with the
user's regional currency symbol.
- Fixed bug introduced in previous build whereby an error message would appear
if the ordernote was set (or changed) when committing an order.
Version 2.1.15 (10th April 2005)
Bug Fixes:
- Order date is no longer missing from the order print out.
- Due to a Microsoft Access bug, Parts Tracker was always using the dollar symbol instead of using the
user's Windows currency settings (found in Control Panel, Regional Settings). This has been fixed - Parts
Tracker now shows the currency format according to the regional settings.
- Windows XP/2000 'limited account' issue: Lots of error messages would be displayed (e.g. reporting that
the log file could not be written) if the user did not have permission to write to the Parts Tracker Program
Files folder (as is the case by default under Windows XP/2000 with a restricted user account). The
workaround was to get the admin user to set the permissions on the Parts Tracker folder. The Parts
Tracker installer has been modified to grant these permissions automatically when installing Parts Tracker.
- Windows XP/2000 'limited account' issue: an error was occurring ("...DLL returned 5...") when Parts
Tracker started up. This was due to Parts Tracker attempting to write to the Windows registry, and
would fail in Windows XP and 2000 if a non-administrator user was logged in. This no longer occurs (PT
now does not write to the registry for a non-admin user, as it was a redundant step anyway).
- Windows XP/2000 'limited account' issue: previsouly Parts Tracker would think it was not registered
everytime a non-administrator user used it - this has been fixed. Parts Tracker can now only be
registered when an Administrator of the machine is logged into Windows, and the licence check is now
not sensitive to Windows security.
Version 2.1.14 (4th January 2005)
Enhancements:
- Parts Tracker now comes with 82-90 and GS parts lists (in addition
to the existing 82-70 and A/A2 lists).
(The parts list is just a sample - you can
edit the parts list or import your own. Also, parts also become out-of-date,
and the default list found in Parts Tracker does not necessarily represent
availablility of parts by any particular supplier.) This only affects
new users (first-time installations) - if you have Parts Tracker already
installed, your old data doesn't change.
- Parts window no longer requires each part to have a bin. Current stock
report now supports parts in no bin.
- The maintenance checklist printout now handles more than 30 lane by showing
additional pages. You can specify how many lanes should be shown on each page
by choosing Settings in the Main Menu, then Parts Tracker Settings, then on
the General Settings page, modify the field labelled "Number of lanes per page
on the Maintenance Checklist printout".
Bug Fixes:
- The Users window was allowing creation of users without Edit Users
permission such that you could be locked out of the Users window permanently.
- For installations with no usernames/passwords configured, username/password
is no longer requested when changing data file (but continues to be requested
for installations with usernames/passwords configured).
- Order suggestion screen no longer suggests negative quantities if restock-to
level is less than minimum qty.
- Rated calls value is now updating as expected on trouble call entry screen
(it previously did not update if the games field was empty).
- Order reminders report was printing too wide.
- Blank trouble call type names were causing an error when trying to open
trouble call entries screen. Workaround was to not have blank names. Parts
Tracker now prevents the user accidentally putting in a blank name.
Version 2.1.13 (6th March 2004)
Enhancements:
- Parts Tracker now comes with a choice of 82-70 or A/A2 parts catalogues.
- Parts Tracker is now smaller in size (the program files). In addition, the
installer now uses better compression (thanks to the latest version of InnoSetup). Combined, this makes the Parts
Tracker download only 1.5MB (less than half the previous size of 3.9MB!) - I'm
sure that will make dial-up users happy ;-).
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed problems with stock card entries (changing the
current units in stock figure in the Parts screen was causing incorrect
balance values in the stock card screen).
- Trouble call/stops entry screen now opens on the last week you were working on (was
broken in last release and was using incorrect year depending on when your
financial year starts).
- Order Number column in Orders for Part screen is now wider (so the number
is no longer obscured).
- Finance Summary screen and report no longer displays errors if an order entry has a
blank account.
- Order entries with blank part number and blank description are now deleted
automatically.
- Extra blank page is no longer printed with the Finance Summary screen
print out.
Version 2.1.12
Enhancements:
- Parts Tracker now supports configurable 'financial
year'. Functionality that was based on the calendar year (i.e. January to
December) can now be configured to run July to June, for example. The
Financial Year start month can be set in the Settings screen (Main Menu ->
Settings -> Parts Tracker Settings).
- The finance summary screen calculations are now
around 10 times faster than previous versions.
- Can now print out the contents of the finance summary screen (using
the new Print button on that screen).
- Monthly finance report has been re-designed. Now
called the 'spending summary report', you can now select any range of months
to be reported (e.g. a single month, multiple months, a year, etc).
- Trouble call weekly report no longer displays zero counts to make it easier to read
(only non-zero values are printed - zero values are shown as blank), except for totals.
- Login now automatically occurs when no users are set up (previously had
to manually login as guest). Once a user is set up, login is then required.
- The following reports now return to their associated
screens after they are closed: trouble call weekly report, trouble call graph,
finance summary, maintenance log, maintenance checklist, order form, price and availability. This means
you don't have to go through the main menu to get back to where you
just were.
-
Changes to startup procedures to improve data file
validation.
Bug Fixes:
- Trouble Call Graph report (to print out the graph) now actually works (was
previously not printing any graph).
- Trouble Call Entry Screen now opens on the last week you were working on
(so if you closed it while looking at week 13 for example, it will open again
at week 13).
- Order print out function (including 'print price
and availability' and 'print order copy') now preview first instead of immediately printing (this
allows optionally not printing, or emailing, etc).
- Year-to-date budget and spend figures were incorrect on monthly finance
report. Now corrected.
- Maintenance log report no longer appears behind the
maintenance screen.
Version 2.1.11
- Clearing trouble call Games field no longer causes error.
- Part Numbers must now be unique ignoring spaces - i.e. 070 006 142 is the
same as 070006142, and only one is allowed.
- No longer requires password for editing Users if no users exist (i.e. if
logged in as Guest).
- Other minor changes.
Version 2.1.10
- Parts Tracker no longer has a dependency on the
system file ATL.DLL, which is not installed on some Windows 95/98 machines
(causing an error such as 'unable to register the Dll/OCX'
during installation).
- Can now choose the data file Parts Tracker uses from the Parts Tracker
Settings screen (if granted corresponding permission).
- To change user settings (add/modify users, passwords and permissions) it
is now necessary to re-enter your login password.
- It is now possible to run an SQL command against the data file from within Parts Tracker (via the Settings screen). This should be used
only under the instruction of Parts Tracker documentation or support persons - you
can really screw up your data using this function if you
don't know what you are doing.
- Other changes to make registration easier.
Version 2.1.9
- Fixed Weekly Trouble Call Report totals - now shows
correct total column when multiple pages are printed.
- Stock entries now automatically re-balance when
inserting stock entries before the most recent entry (note: ability to edit
existing stock entries is coming soon).
- Full Parts List screen (Parts Menu) now has tool
buttons for printing, filtering, sorting, hiding columns, and exporting to
Excel.
- Parts Screen sort now refreshes on open.
Version 2.1.8
- Can exchange data file between licensed machines
without having to re-license those machines.
- Fixed limitation of six-digit account numbers (can
now have up to 50 characters in account numbers including letters).
- Trouble call report now supports more than 30 lanes
by printing multiple pages. You can set the number of lanes per page in the
Parts Tracker Settings screen (press the Settings button from the Trouble Call
Entries screen).
- Can now print the
Trouble Call Graph.
- Fixed problem with use of commas in account names,
supplier names, categories, etc.
- Deleting a part in the Parts screen now remains in
the same position with in the parts list (moves to the next part instead of
moving to the last part), and no longer displays two delete confirmation
dialogs ('cos one is enough).
- Changed the way billing months are
stored (now with four-digit year).
- Part Suggestions screen (accessible via the Order
screen) now shows number on order and number on backorder.
- Monthly Revenue report neatened up a bit (and now
shows FAV and UNFAV against budget variance figures).
- Fixed Parts Ordered report - was showing duplicate
parts, and was not filtering on year.
- Other minor fixes and modifications.
Version 2.1.7
- Fixed problem with order printout showing multiple
'backorders' sections (and incorrect sorting).
- Can now order by part number, total spend, quantity
ordered, number of orders on Ordered Parts report.
- Improved Centre Logo screen allowing easier
editing/importing of logo.
- Other minor fixes and modifications.
Version 2.1.4
- Allowed filtering some trouble call types from the
rating calculation, and from the per-call-type graph.
- Can now set the colour of current and previous year
in Trouble Call chart.
- Can now set the scale used for the
frames-per-stop/games-per-stop rating calculation.

received orders.
- Added Settings screen for editing configuration
settings and static data.
- All large screens are now 15"-monitor-friendly (800 x
600) and resize automatically (the 'minimum supported resolution' is 800 x
600).
- Cleaned up Account Transaction Screen - you now add
new entries on a separate dialog, and you can now edit the existing entries.
- Can now add a new supplier straight from the Order
screen, and the Add Misc Account Transaction screen (via the little button
next to the Supplier field).
- Added a 'Full Parts List' screen (Parts menu), which
is just a table view of the Parts table.
- Fixed problem with clearing multiple cells in the
Trouble Call Entry screen.
- Added an Order Reminders report.
- Improved parts number searching for partial numbers
(to deal better with certain part number formats). You can also now use * for
wildcard searches.
- Can now delete stock entries (only the last one at a
time).
- Other minor fixes and modifications.
Version 2.1.0 (beta)
- Added new Trouble Call Entry screen allowing entry of
trouble calls per machine and per call type.
- Added new Trouble Call Graphs screen allowing viewing
of trouble calls in different manners such as per week, per call type, per
machine, as well as filtering options. The 'goal' line has been removed for
now (I will add it back in the future).
- Permissions are now based on individual specific
actions instead of user level (user level is now removed).
- Added Part Exchanges screen for tracking lends and
borrows of parts. Used in conjunction with Stock Card screen (e.g. you add an
'out'/'in' entry and assign it to/from another centre). You can also print out
a list of currently owed stock (to you or by you).

000 standard number formats without entering all those zeros (e.g. 6142 will
match 070 006 142. Also handles V prefix (for Vantage numbers).
- Put close (X) buttons on most screens allowing
closing them by pressing the Escape key.
- Various other enhancements and fixes.
