To use Parts Tracker, you need to have one of the following Microsoft(R) Access
versions installed on your computer:
- Access Full Version 2000, XP, 2003 or 2007
- or
- Access Runtime Version XP, 2003 or 2007 (2007 is strongly recommended)
The Parts Tracker setup file does not include Microsoft Access.
You can either buy the full version of Microsoft Access from a Microsoft
stockist, or download the free Runtime Version from Microsoft's website (see below).
Why Does Parts Tracker Need Microsoft Access?
Parts Tracker uses the Microsoft Access database management system
for storing of data and performing most operations. It is essentially
the "programming language" that Parts Tracker is written
in and is fundamental to its functionality.
Microsoft Access brings to Parts Tracker the benefits of a powerful,
reliable and well-known database management system.
Microsoft Access Runtime Version
You don't have to buy the full version of Microsoft Access to use Parts Tracker.
The Access Runtime Version is a special (free) version of Microsoft Access which
allows programs written using Access, like Parts Tracker, to be run without the full version.
You can download Access Runtime from here. Only do this if you do not have Access installed already (or you will break your Access installation).
